  1. First of all, soak rice and the lentils after washing thoroughly for at least 20 minutes. Now in a non-stick pot, heat ghee and add the ginger garlic paste and the sliced onion to it. Saute it for a few minutes until the raw smell fades away on a low heat..
  2. Add the whole garam masalas one by one. Also add the garam masala powder, turmeric and the green chilies and coriander leaves. After about 5 minutes of sauteeing, add the soaked rice and lentils..
  3. Saute for a minute and then add about 4 cups of water along with the salt. For the first 10 minutes, let it cook on high flame stirring in between, to mix everything well. After 10 minutes, lower the flame and cover..
